HOW DOES REIKI HEALING WORK?

The Reiki practitioner has been attuned to the universal energy and connects to this becoming a conduit. By placing her hands on or hovering slightly above the recipient’s body the practitioner allows the healing energy to flow through the recipient to where it is needed, balancing the energy centres and allowing healing to take place.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WHEN ATTENDING A REIKI TREATMENT SESSION?

On your first visit the practitioner will explain how the reiki treatment will progress, advise possible sensations you may feel whilst the treatment is taking place and answer any questions you may have.

The treatment will be given as you lie on the treatment table fully clothed, firstly on your back and usually turning onto your front as the treatment progresses. If you are unable to lie down, the treatment can be given whilst sitting in a chair if this is more comfortable.

The practitioner will place her hands in certain positions down the body from your head to your feet. These may vary slightly from visit to visit as the practitioner will intuitively feel where more or less energy is required for your greater benefit.

You may experience different sensations in different areas of your body as the practitioner moves her hands from one position to another. You may feel heat, cold, tingling, throbbing or have no sensations at all except a calmness and peace throughout your body - all of which are perfectly normal during a reiki healing session. You may also experience different sensations at each treatment.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT WHEN RECEIVING A SPINAREIKI© TREATMENT?

Exactly the same as a Reiki treatment but during a SpinaReiki© treatment the practitioner will work down the spine as the recipient either lies on their front or sits on a chair. Placing one hand on the recipients crown and the other on the spine (cervical, thoracic or lumbar) depending on the recipients requirements and will move slowly down along the vertebra.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A SPINAREIKI© TREATMENT?

Since the craniosacral system is interconnected with the nervous, endocrine and lymphatic systems, rebalancing on many different levels of the body is happening. Some slight discomfort or aggravation of symptoms may occur within 24-48 hours after a session. This is very normal as the body settles into new patterns of ease and energy shifts are still occurring.

After Reiki and SpinaReiki© treatments it is advisable to drink plenty of water to help flush the body.

ARE FURTHER TREATMENTS REQUIRED?

Depending on your reason for seeking Reiki therapy your practitioner will discuss further treatments with you but this is of course entirely the recipient’s decision.

Three treatments are often recommended as being beneficial in helping reboot the body's own immune system to aid healing and good health. These treatments would begin the process of unblocking energy centres and detoxifying the body allowing the immune system to work more efficiently which aids the body's own healing ability. This is up to the recipient and there is no pressure to commit to further treatments. However, as Reiki and SpinaReiki© can only be of benefit, treatments can be given whenever the recipient may feel they need or would like to receive one.

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?

A treatment generally takes 60-75 minutes. If you have time constraints the practitioner will take this into account.
